Date
2 November 2004
Description
Front of promotional postcard and show ticket for Nottingham Operatic Society production of 42nd Street.
What's the story?
42nd street is a 1980 American musical with a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin and Johnny Mercer, and music by Harry Warren.
Although an original novel by Bradford Ropes set during the Great Depression, the stage show is based more on the 1933 film adaptation of the novel
It is also interesting to note the tickets used at the Theatre Royal at this time, showing a photograph of the venue as a watercolour background. It shows the venue and the ‘new’ trams, which had started running in March 2004, running past the Theatre Royal and stopping at the Royal Centre tram stop.
