What's the story?
Set in a fictional Baghdad in the times of The Arabian Nights, Kismet was written by Robert Wright and George Forrest and was first produced on Broadway in 1953.
This musical was chosen as the 100th anniversary production by Nottingham Operatic Society
Formed in 1893, they performed their first show 'Les Cloches de Cornerville' by Robert Planguette on 18 January 1894 at the Mechanics Hall.
In 1925 the Society moved its shows to the Theatre Royal with a production of The Yeoman of the Guard by Gilbert and Sullivan and have been a constant presence at the venue ever since.
