Description
Leaflet and show ticket (front and reverse) for Nottingham Operatic Society production of Me and My Girl.
What's the story?
Me and My Girl is a celebrated musical comedy by Noel Gay, made famous for its songs The Lambeth Walk and The Sun Has Got His Hat On.
The show opened at the Victoria Palace, London in December 1937. As can be seen below the Theatre Royal Nottingham was one of the first hosts for this show prior to its initial West End run
Although a big hit at the end of the 1930s, it only had a few minor revivals in the following years.
In the 1980s, it successfully returned to the West End with a new musical book by Stephen Fry and starred Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson.
Despite the musical being sixty years old in 1997, this was the first time Me and My Girl had been performed by Nottingham Operatic Society.
