Title
Black Coffee - Programme, 1968
Date
15 July 1968
Description
Full programme for revival of Black Coffee by Agatha Christie
What's the story?
First produced in 1930, Black Coffee was the first piece that Agatha Christie wrote for the stage. Therefore, to ease herself into this new art-form for her she used her favourite character from her books, the Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot.
In 1998, with the permission of the Christie estate, Black Coffee was novelised by Australian writer Charles Osborne.
This 1968 revival starred Terence Duff as Poirot (avoiding Christie’s own belief that Poirot should not appear on stage when it is an adaptation of one of her novels), alongside John Martin, Kenneth Seeger, Mollie Hare, Richard Poore, Vanessa Riches and Michael Lomax.
