What's the story?
Absent Friends by Alan Ayckbourn was first written and produced in 1974. It was the 14th of his 83 full-length plays and his first to be set in 'real' time, based around a tea-party for the recently bereaved Colin by his friends and acquaintances.
This 1988 touring production starred Ralph Bates, Peter Blake, Lucinda Curtis, Peter Denyer and Rachel Bell – stars of then then popular BBC TV series Dear John, written by John Sullivan and broadcast in 1986 and 1987.
Absent Friends was directed by actor/director James Hazeldine.
