Dick Whittington - Flyer & Radio Ad, 2004
Date
10 December 2004
Description
Flyer & Radio Ad for Dick Whittington, the Theatre Royal Pantomime for 2004
What's the story?
Dick Whittington starred Kevin Kennedy, Jean Fergusson, Chris Gascoyne, Tina Hall and Colin Baker and was directed by Richard Frost.
This particular Panto was produced in-house by the Theatre Royal. Qdos Entertainment's contract had expired and for a short period the venue produced its won show.
In March 2004 the £200 million Nottingham Express Transit tram system was finally up and running. Running from Nottingham to Hucknall, the new tram ran directly parallel to the side of the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall along Goldsmith Street. There was even a Royal Centre tram stop just a few metres from Stage Door.
To mark this significant Nottingham event, for his Dame entrance as Sarah the Cook, a special film was made of Colin Baker in full costume travelling on the tram to the theatre to make his entrance. This was screened to the audience for every show, followed by him running on from stage right.
