Posters for Nottingham Operatic Society production of Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma!

What's the story?

Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the team of composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II.
Based on Lynn Riggs' 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs, Oklahoma! opened on Broadway in March 1943 and ran for an unprecedented 2,212 performances. It later became an Academy Award-winning 1955 film.
As well as the famous title song, other famous numbers in the show include Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, I Caint Say No, The Surrey With the Fringe on Top and People Will Say We’re in Love.
During the run of this Nottingham Operatic Society production, the Theatre Royal hosted a special afternoon event with actor David Suchet, in which he launched his book Poirot and Me, an account of his time playing Agatha Christie’s famous detective on TV.
