What's the story?
Noddy was the creation of children’s author Enid Blyton, who published a series of books based on Noddy’s adventures in Toyland, with his friend Big Ears, from 1949 to 1963.
Television shows based on the character have run on British television since 1955 and continue to appear to this day.
This stage adaptation was first produced at the Wimbledon Theatre in London in 1993 and was very successful. Adapter and director David Wood went on to produce a stage sequel entitled Noddy and the Tootle in 1995.
Actor, writer and director David Wood is no stranger to children’s theatre, adapting several well-known titles to the stage including The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, Rupert Bear and Babe, the Sheep-Pig.
The Times newspaper described him as “the national children’s dramatist”.
