What's the story?
This 1951 production of Brandon Thomas’ 1892 farce Charley’s Aunt marks an early stage appearance of actor Leslie Phillips, in the central role of Lord Fancourt Babberley.
As the decade progressed Phillips became more of a household name through his work on television and in film, especially the Carry On and Doctor series.
Also of note is the scenery and costumes designed by Cecil Beaton, who was to later win the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Gigi in 1958 and My Fair Lady in 1964.
This production is directed by Jevan Brandon-Thomas, the son of the original playwright.
