What's the story?
New Sadler’s Wells Opera was a short-lived 1980s company, originally established by the Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
Its aim was to present Gilbert and Sullivan productions and other light opera.
After some initial success, in 1986 the company severed its ties with the theatre; hence, the ‘New’ Sadler’s Wells Opera and became a touring company. It finally went out of business in 1989.
Here the company is presenting The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan and La Belle Helene by Offenbach.
