First produced in 1927, Show Boat written by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II follows the lives of a group of performers, stagehands and other workers on a Mississippi river show boat.
This 1990 co-production between the Royal Shakespeare Company and Opera North was a successful revival of the show that was to receive another major tour in 1992.
The production was directed by Ian Judge and starred Marilyn Cutts, Janie Dee, Philip Gould, Richard Halton, Janis Kelly and Bruce Hubbard.
