Title
Tonight's the Night - Programme, 1943
Date
21 June 1943
Description
Double-sided, fold-out programme for the musical comedy Tonight's the Night.
What's the story?
Tonight’s the Night is a now largely forgotten musical comedy by Fred Thompson, Fred Rubens and Percy Greenbank.
Two songs (They Didn’t Believe Me and Any Old Night) were written by Jerome Kern.
Having successfully premiered on Broadway in 1914, it opened at the Gaiety Theatre in London in April 1915 where it ran for 460 performances.
From the cast list one can see that the production does boast a large cast, although for the masked ball scene ladies certainly do outnumber the gentlemen. Clearly a result of the continuing war effort.
