Night Must Fall is a 1935 drama by Welsh writer, director and actor Emlyn Williams (1905 – 1987). Williams plays Dan a psychopathic murderer and the play is often highlighted as being one of the first for exploring a killer’s psychological state.
The Theatre Royal was open throughout the World War Two and one can see references to the conflict in the advertisement for T.C.P. … “How valuable T.C.P. has become, now that all of us doing war-time jobs of one kind or another” and the ‘Alert’ and ‘All Clear’ signals referred to at the side of the stage.
