Based on the old testament story, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber received its professional premiere as a 35-minute musical, at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1972, having been originally conceived as a 15 minute ‘pop cantata at Colet School in London.
Its full modern format was first performed at the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester in 1974.
This Bill Kenwright production has been a staple on the large-scale touring circuit for many years, with frequent visits to the Theatre Royal Nottingham.
