What's the story?
Sooty first appeared on British television in 1952 and he is still going strong, making it the longest running children’s TV programme in the world.
For this theatre show, set in the Wild West, Sooty and pals are assisted by Connie Creighton and Spencer K Gibbins.
This leaflet has been made available as a loan to the Theatre Royal for digitisation and uploading to the archive by the Wilson family in Nottingham. Their collection of Theatre Royal ephemera relates from 1980 to 2000. This was a period of regular theatre visits, inspired by their youngest son, described as “the driving force” for seeing so many shows at the venue.
Having heard an appeal for items relating to the Theatre Royal’s past, they contacted the venue to offer their important family collection.
