Poster and newspaper review for stage adaptation of East is East by Ayub Khan Din.
What's the story?
Set in Salford in 1971 East is East is a comedy by Ayub Khan Din about a mixed ethnicity family headed by Pakistani father, George Khan and English mother, Ella.
The play was first performed at Birmingham Repertory Theatre in October 1996, but is perhaps more famous for the 1999 film adaptation.
The glowing Nottingham Post review by Alan Geary from 29 July 2015 points out the continuing relevance of the play …”Without offering slick solutions, it presents all or most sides of the clash-of-cultures issues with admirable fairness.”
