What's the story?
Set in London in 1880, Gaslight is a 1938 play by British writer Patrick Hamilton. The play has given rise to the term ‘gaslighting’ to denote psychological abuse, with the victim doubting their own memory and perception.
In the play, this is played out through the over-bearing character of Jack Manningham and the torment of his wife Bella.
This 1986 touring production of Gaslight starred Patrick Mower, Peter Gilmore, Prunella Gee, Lisa Cook and Di Langford.
