What's the story?
Starring actor and singer Darren Day as Pip, this musical version of Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations was written by former Radio 1 D.J. Mike Read.
A version of the show had premiered at Theatre Clywd in Wales in 1993 and in a break with tradition was now the big non-Panto Christmas show for the Theatre Royal Nottingham for the 1994/1995 season.
The production was a big success and the following year the Theatre Royal presented another Dickens musical adaptation, A Christmas Carol. Mike Read once again provided music and lyrics.
This programme cover is from the private collection of Rebekah Pickering-Wood, a child performer in both Great Expectations and A Christmas Carol. Rebekah’s signature can be clearly seen on this cover.
