What's the story?
These informal photographs of some of the cast and production team of A Christmas Carol were taken backstage at a small celebration in the Theatre Royal’s Green Room.
This musical version of Dicken’s classic was written by former Radio 1 D.J. Mike Read.
The pictures can be found in a scrapbook belonging to Rebekah Pickering-Wood, a child performer in the show.
These pictures show Anton Rodgers who played Scrooge; actor Graham Hoadly, (filming his photo being taken) who played Mr Fezziwig and Old Joe; Rebekah with Anton Rodgers; Rebekah with actor Owen Paul who played Bob Cratchitt and Rebekah with Sharon Suckley, the Wig Mistress.
Links can be found on this archive to extensive oral history interviews with Rebekah, where from the audition process to performing on stage, she provides a vivid account of her time working on A Christmas Carol, as well as an insight into the life of the theatre.
In the interview link below, Rebekah talks about these pictures, how Anton Rodgers ensured the children in the show were looked after properly and how she and the other actors bonded so well.
