Title
Freddie and the Dreamers - Programme, 1964
Date
16 November 1964
Description
Full programme for twice-nightly week-long performances by pop group Freddie and the Dreamers, supported by comedian Des O'Connor.
What's the story?
Manchester pop band Freddie and the Dreamers had a number of chart hits between 1963 and 1965 and so these Theatre Royal performances would have been hugely popular.
Based around the zany comic antics of their lead singer Freddie Garrity, their hits included I’m Telling You Now, You Were Made For Me and If You Gotta Make a Fool of Somebody.
It is interesting to note how their show is presented as a typical variety bill for the time, rather than a pop concert we are now familiar with, as also appearing with the band are popular comedian Des O’Connor; Jean and Peter Barbour – Stilt Dancing Puppeteers; George Meaton – The Big Noise and Franklyn and His Doves.
