Description

Photograph of the Scouts 'Thank You' Badge presented to Mike Donaghue and Ian McCarthy, representing the Theatre Royal backstage staff for their work on the Gang Show.

What's the story?

Established at the Theatre Royal since 1953, the Gang Show involves around 200 young people from the Scouting and Guiding movements in the county.
The show is a mix of songs, dance and comedy sketches, which gives the performers an opportunity to hone their skills over a six-month period of rehearsal before the week-long show in the spring.
In 1999 Gang Show producer Jock Shaw presented Head of Lighting Mike Donaghue and Stage Manager Ian McCarthy with a special ‘Thank You’ badge on behalf of the scouting movement for “their help and friendship over many years”.
This photograph of Jock presenting Mike and Mac with this badge, surrounded by scouts and guides, is in a frame, along with the actual badge and the 1999 Gang Show programme on the main principal’s dressing room corridor.
