What's the story?
The young male dancer on the cover of this leaflet is Mark Baldwin.
Born in Fiji and educated in New Zealand, Mark joined Rambert as a dancer in 1983.
After 10 years working as an independent choreographer he was appointed as the seventh Artistic Director in Rambert’s history and took up the role in December 2002.
In 2018 Mark announced he was stepping down as director of Rambert, in order to devote more time to his choreographic work.
During his tenure he created eight works for the company , as well as being the figurehead for a £20million campaign to build the company’s first ever purpose-built home, a state-of-the-art facility on London’s South Bank, opened by HM Queen Elizabeth in 2014.
In 2015 Mark was awarded an OBE for services to dance.
Mark regularly accompanied Rambert on tour and at the Theatre Royal Nottingham often presented the pre-show talk in the stalls auditorium on opening night.
