What's the story?
Grumpy starred Horace Hodges in the title role, who co-wrote with T. Wigney Percyval.
From the Nottingham Journal, Tuesday 6 October 1914:
" Mr Horace Hodges has fitted himself with a part absolutely to his perfect liking. Amiable old gentlemen who love their pretty girl relations and arrange suitable marriages for them are admired personages on the stage and in household fiction"
Described by The Daily Telegraph as "jolly entertainment as you will find", Grumpy was a very popular show.
This 1914 production was the first of three visits to the Theatre Royal Nottingham during The Great War.
